Happy Anniversary to My Ex-Husband

Image
There is always one day that is simply emotionally confusing for me and that is:  The Ex-Anniversary Date Twenty years have passed since the day I stood with my first husband Jim, in the basement of a courthouse in Athens, Georgia and said my wedding vows. And even though we’re divorced… and Jan 8th will come and go WITHOUT a 20th wedding anniversary… I will still celebrate it. I do every year. Our Wedding Day - Jan 8, 2001 I will celebrate the good memories, and the life we created while we were happy together. Because… there were a lot of good times. I will reflect on the sad time, the dashed hope's and dreams, the words left unsaid. And I'll wonder about the what- ifs.... it's all part of our story. Circumstances can never change the past. The only thing we can do is grow ourselves to change our view of the past. For me, this date is a reminder of my/our story. I have accepted the fact that I have no clue how to feel on this day. You'd think

One Friend

Happy 15th Anniversary to my ONE friend, my lover, and my hubby! I love you Stephen! "One Friend" I always thought you were the best I guess I always will I always felt that we were blessed And I feel that way still Sometimes we took the hard road But we always saw it through If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you Sometimes the world was on our side Sometimes it wasn't fair Sometimes it gave a helping hand Sometimes we didn't care 'Cause when we were together It made the dream come true If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you Someone who understands me And knows me inside out And helps keep me together And believes without a doubt That I could move a mountain Someone to tell it to If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you Someone who understands me And knows me inside out And helps keep me together And believes without a doubt That I could move a mountain Someone to tell it to If I had only one friend left I'd wan

Simple Homeschooling

Image
This month, we are back to homeshooling our two youngest kids. Not only was I a homeschool kid, but I have homeschooled my own kids off and on for over 13 yrs. Our oldest daughter has graduated and is in her second semester of college. I firmly believe the number one rule for homeschooling should be this: - Keep It Simple! - This year we are using Gather Round Homeschool Unit Studies and Abeka Math. Our supplies consist of our Unit Study workbooks and Teachers guide, an individual notebook for each of us, my Bible, a planner/calender (I use it to keep track of our days as required by the State), a Chromebook (used for researchand watching videos), Math workbooks, and Reading books.  We keep all our school supplies in a carousel. When school is finished, we put the carousel and our books back on the school shelf in the closet and go on with our day! It is super simple and stress free! Keeping school simple has helped me be a better teacher. No more desks, chairs, white boards, posters

I Cried Today

Image
I cried today.... it's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last time.... Our 14 year old son is on the spectrum .  He has never been able to pass a 1st grade reading test. We have had him tested so many times and so many different places. He's been to multiple therapist's, tried four different schools, and many different curriculum, and learning resources, but nothing has helped.  This year, we are back to homeshooling , and we are doing a completely new unit study curriculum called ' Gather Round Homeschool '.  I am super excited about it and feel it will give our kids a boost of confidence and help them learn more about the world around them and help them use their individual skills more! I have been gathering resources to use along with our curriculum. I found these adorable timer bookmarks for the kids and we will be doing alot of reading, national geographic movies, feild trips, crafts and Library time. But, while I was researching, I  ca

Freedom??? Think Again Folks, We Are No Longer Free

Image
I'm so tired...physically, mentally and every other part of being tired that there could be. I feel like my freedom is slowly forcefully being taken away from me and theres not a thing I can do about it.  I'M really tired of being TOLD WHEN, WHERE AND HOW TO WEAR THE MASK.... If you don't wear it you can't go to certain places because now they require it. I have stopped shopping at stores that require it, but now our whole state is making it a mandate. (I still refuse to wear it though.) It's sad watching our freedoms being taken from us. It's sad that most people are willing to blindly follow such nonsense. I don't want to raise my kids in this world...  heck, I don't even want to live in this kind of world myself. What happened to our individual rights? This isn't about health.... its about, control, politics, and setting us up for a communism take over.... it has nothing to do with health. It's just another way the for the leftists to destro

Breakfast with my Ex Husband

Image
I twist the wedding band on my left ring finger. I never know what to do with my hands, especially when I’m nervous. Every five years or so, I find myself here.... I’m at a little restaurant twenty plus miles from my home... I'm always here first. I see him at the door before he sees me. I watch him look around the room. My heart is beating fast. The whole scene freezes as he walks towards me. I am transported back 21 years to when I first met him.... so much looks the same, all the memories come flooding back. We used to be in love....we made it look good; we made it look easy. And it was good, but never easy. Life was hard back then. I rise to hug him. Our bodies still fit so well together. I remember his smell, part cologne, part Marlboro cigarettes, and part cinnamon certs. I pull away. We sit, surrounded by the noise of the old folks getting their morning coffee and chatting about the weather. It feels awkward. I never know how I'm supposed to a

The Sign At The End Of The Lane

Image
We live on a little piece of country land, out in the middle of no where.... when you turn on our road, you go by a little cemetery, through an s curve, up a slight hill and you come to it.... our home. There you'll find a sign at the end of the lane.... its not a big sign, its not a fancy sign, and its really not even that good looking of a sign, but it lets people know that we are here. Here to help you feel better, here to help a friend or your family member, here to give health, hope, and wealth . Here to share, here to care. We are here to make your future better.  So, if your looking for information to work from home, want to improve your health, or just need someone to talk to.... stop on in.... Yes, that sign sets at the end of our lane as a reminder that I am here for you. How can I help you today? - Rhoda Kindred Shaklee Independent Distributor

Starting Over

Image
A few years ago we downsized our pasture and got rid of all our Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats, rabbits, and chickens. It was right after our sons emergency brain surgery and my three surgeries and honestly, there was just so much going on, that we just needed a break. It was so hard to see the animals go... especially my favorite little guy buckle. It's been a few years, and although theres still alot going on with my health, we felt like it was time to start fresh again.... only this time around we are keeping it simple. No cows, guineas, meat chickens to butcher, and no breeding, milking or selling goats. We are just getting enough chickens for our personal egg use, 2 wethers as pets, and one bunny as my companion animal! I put a deposit down on these two little guys last week. We have to wait a few weeks till they're old enough to leave their mommss, but I can't  wait to have baby goats again.  In the meantime, I'm gonna be cleaning and disinfecting th

Dream Small

Image
In a world where everyone tells you to dream big.... and everyone is chasing after the next big thing.... I'm here to tell you, it's okay to dream small! And, since the first time I heard this song by Josh Wilson, I fell in love with it.... Dear Momma, Dad, Husband, Wife, Kids, Teenager, Biz owner, Employee, and anyone else out there.... its perfectly okay to dream small! Go give it a listen at: https://youtu.be/dOBaLrItEyc It's a momma singing songs about the Lord  It's a daddy spending family time That the world said he cannot afford These simple moments change the world It's a pastor at a tiny little Church Forty years of loving on the broken and the hurt. These simple moments change the world. Dream small Don't buy the lie you've gotta do it all Just let Jesus use you where you are One day at a time Live well Loving God and others as yourself Find little ways where only you can help With His great love A tiny rock can make a giant fall Dream small It

A Healthy Immune System Matters Against Viruses and the Coronavirus

Image
A good, healthy immune system matters the most against viruses.... but how can you keep your body healthy?  1. Try not to stress ! When we are stressed or anxious our cortisol levels go up and that lowers our immune system, so reducing physical and mental stress will help reduce the risk of getting Coronavirus. 2. Get enough sleep. Getting that eight hours of sleep a night is huge because if we are not well rested our bodies immune system doesn't work like it should. 3. Get up and moving. Regular exercise has been shown to boost our immune system. Go outside, take a walk, breath some fresh air. 4. Load up on fruits, veggies and antioxidants. Healthy food gives our body the energy it needs to keep going every day. Put down the processed food, soda and candy. 5. Take all natural whole food supplements and vitamins to keep our immune systems the healthiest.  A strong immune system needs powerful nutrition.  LIFE SHAKE™: Healthy immune-supporting meal replac

One Room Makeover Challenge

Image
I love decorating and making over a room... so when I heard of the One Room Makeover Challenge.... I was all in! Here's the deal.... the challenge is you have 2 days and a $200 budget... I thought our bathroom would be perfect for this. You see, some day, when we tear up all the flooring, we are planning on a big remodel/refresh for the whole house. And when that happens I have big plans for this bathroom.... a soaker tub, a see through glass shower, a real stone sink top, new vanity, flooring, closet, etc. But until then.... a little refresh will do wonders! So here's the story on this bathroom... When we bought the house 15 years ago, this bathroom was all decked out in its original 70's style.... blue and pink wall paper, blue floor, blue tub, yellowed blue marble sink and yes, a blue toilet! (Sorry about the picture quality- it was before I had a digital camara.) We got rid of just about everything.... except the ugly blue tub, always

Why I Wouldn't Have Kids Again

Image
It's never been a secret that  I do not enjoy being a mom . But when most people hear that, they think I hate my kids or that I'm a horrible person... But the thing is... I don't say it to be mean or cruel to my kids but rather, I feel this way because my kids deserved so much more. I'm sad that the way my kids grew up wasn't the way I'd have chosen to raise them, if I knew then what I know now. I wish someone would have told me the honest truth about having kids. You see if I could go back and do it all over, my kids would've been raised without TV, a computer or cell phones. There would have been no sweets or soda pop. No plastic toys, or barbie dolls. They would have had a structured schedule and routine. They would have been able to play sports, do Gymnastics, and go to dance and music lessons. They would have grown up in a good church, with best friends, young folks, potlucks, singing in nursing homes, and having guests over for Sunday dinn

A Long Drive and Good Music...

Image
I have always loved driving. The longer the drive and louder the music, the better I like it! A few months ago, I became a driver for a Ford Car Dealership. It pays next to nothing, but it helps me keep my mind off my health issues, gets me out of the house, and gives me a sense of fulfillment. I take and pick up cars at the auctions, do dealer trades, and drive customer cars. Sometimes I get to drive fancy high dollar cars... the mustangs, pick up trucks, and explores are still my favorite. I love my job. I love to drive. It's what I was born to do!

Ride A Bike

Image
My family riding the 16 mile loop on Jekyll Island, GA - 2019  I'm sure we have all heard the saying that a walk can fix almost anything.... but did you know the same could be said of taking a bike ride? “Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike”  – John F Kennedy Riding a bike offers many health benefits. Regular cycling will help strengthen your cardiovascular system, enabling your heart and lungs to work more efficiently and getting more oxygen where it’s needed, quicker. This means you can do more exercise for less effort. Cycling just 20 miles a week reduces your risk of heart disease to less than half that of those who take no exercise. There’s also evidence that any exercise is useful in warding off cancer, but some studies have shown that cycling is specifically good for keeping your cells in working order.  Does your immune system need a boost.. Riding a bike and getting some moderate exercise can boost your immune system, so you c
