Diamond Caverns Park City, KY

Image
This past weekend, we enjoyed a small vacation to Kentucky. On Friday, we stopped at the Diamond Caverns in Park City, KY. The Caverns are located just off I-65 at Exit 48 you can visit thier web site here.  The guided tour was a little over 1 hour in length, which included 1/2 mile and 350 stairs scattered throughout. The cave was a comfortable 58* which felt great on a humid summer day! This cave has three levels - the first two we walked through.... the third level has a river running through it, but is not open for tours. I am always amazed at God's creation..... ......God is so Big, Powerful, Almighty..... .....the Splender and Beauty                             ....pictures don't compare!  Me and my baby girl.... (she wasn't too impressed with it!) the two oldest both liked the cave..... It is beyond me, how someone can look at God's Awesome Creation such as this and say there is no God..... "For the invisible things of him (God) fr

Thank-You Jesus.....

I am thankful that we switched from prescription drugs to  Shaklee's all natural food supplements for more reason than I can list. - But today, it may have just saved the life of my 17 month old baby girl, Adilayia Rose! Adilayia Rose..... she is dirty from playing outside and is teething, so she has drool all down her shirt! You see, today, after a busy morning in my 'office', helping hubby put up a new garage door opener in the shop, and picking tomatoes, I was more than a little behind in household chores. Anyway, I was busy in the kitchen making salsa to can. I had noticed that my son, QW (4 yr. old) was getting a drink of water with the fridge door open. Layia was with him, but since this is nothing unusual, I kept working up my tomatoes. My oldest daughter was busy practicing her piano for her first piano recital next week (she is doing really well!) and I was happily humming along in the kitchen. After she finished, I noticed that the two

Keeping Herbs Fresh

Image
I love the smell of fresh herbs and I am slowly learning how to cook with more herbs.........the only problem is that when you live in zone 5, it's quite hard to always have fresh herbs in the garden year round! Thus, you must  preserve them! One of my Herb beds.... Have you ever had trouble keeping fresh herbs fresh? Do your cilantro and parsley go wilty, limpy, or dry after a few days? The trick involves the clever use of a plastic bag. How to Store Parsley, Cilantro, and Other Fresh Herbs: 1 - Snip off the bottom of the stems. 2 - Make sure the leaves are completely dry. Better to hold off rinsing them until you're about to use them. 3 - Fill a jar or a water glass partially with water and place the stem ends of the herbs into the water in the jar. 4 - If you are storing the herbs in the refrigerator, cover loosely with a plastic bag. Cilantro loves cool temperatures and should be stored in the refrigerator.   Parsley can be stored at room temperature or

Book Review.... God's Love Letters to You by Larry Crabb

God's Love Letters to You  A 40-Day Devotional Experience By Larry Crabb  Rating: 2 Stars God's Love Letters to You, is a 40-day devotional journey. Each day begins with a Bible verse, continues with a one page short devotional, followed by reflection questions and a closing prayer.  From the title I was anticipating the pages to be filled with warm nuggets of truth about God's love, however, it seemed to be lacking for me. It does speak of God's love for us, but some of the devotions were more negative than others.  God's Love Letters to You is Dr. Crabb's interpretation of what God might say to you in conversation about the scriptures. I understand that we all interpret God's Word in our own way every time we study the Bible, but I think for me personally, I'd have rather just studied the Bible in and by its' self!  I'm sorry to say that my favorite part of this book is its front cover - it looks old fashioned, s

Go Green ......

Green Car Washing   We are in the middle of prime summer time!  Yep, people are out swimming, children (& some eager adults) playing on the slip n slide, folks are going on road trips.  Let's face it summer is the time to get outside!  ONE of those lovely outdoor tasks we seem to do more often is washing our own car.  Saving money, getting a little tan (not too much, wear that sunscreen!), and squirting your doggies OR significant other with the hose is reason enough to wash your own car! However, when you wash your vehicle, please do it the GREEN way.  Here are some very simple tips for doing just that: -Grab a bucket instead of the hose. The average car wash done at home uses up to 110 gallons of clean drinking water.  If you use a bucket instead you can save at least 80 gallons! Also, just washing the car less frequently or using an outdoor rainwater tank is a great SIMPLE alternative. -Wash your car on the lawn!  The waste water can contain oi

My Marriage Rocks.....and so does my Husband!

Image
God has blessed me with an awesome marriage! My Husband is the sweetest, most loving guy I have ever known. He always treats me with the up most honor and respect, even though many times, I don't deserve it! He is strong, a man of godly christian character, always ready and willing to do whats right! When I first saw  UNION 28 MARRIAGE APPAREL , I thought, "This is neat!" Many people in today's world try to tear the foundation of marriage apart and belittle the idea of marriage. They complain about their spouse, what they do or don't do...... I love that UNION 28 MARRIAGE APPAREL is making a positive statement about marriage for husbands and wives who want to honor each other & believe that their husband/wife truly does ROCK! Marriage was created to be a blessing and a little kindness, selflessness, and respect goes a long way......... When you allow yourself to believe that your spouse rocks, you will free yourself from the downward sp

The Reason Behind Why We Want to Share Shaklee with You

Image
Five years ago, our oldest daughter starting getting regular bladder and urinary track infections, dysfunctional elimination syndrome and reflux of the bladder. Her liver was only operating at 60%, she had kidney problems, as well as other health problems. We took her to seven different doctors, including top specialist’s at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indy, and she was on prescription medication continually for over four years, sometimes being on five different kinds of medication at the same time with no good results. We noticed that she didn't have the energy that other kids her age had. She suffered from depression, and seemed to be 'scatter brained'. She started to do poorly in school and simple little things seemed like big mountains to her. Even the doctors told us that the medication was causing more harm to her in the long run, but they didn’t know what else to do. That is when we decided to try using herbs and vitamins. In June 2010 we stopped all prescri

Book Review.....Money Secrets of the Amish by Lorilee Craker

Image
Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without!  Money Secrets of the Amish  by: Lorilee Craker Finding True Abundance in Simplicity, Sharing, and Saving! rating: 5 Stars "Money Secrets of the Amish" by author Lorilee Craker, was a quick read. At first, I was a little bored, but by the time I got a few chapters in, I was really enjoying it and didn’t want to put the book down! What I love about this book isn't so much the information – there isn’t much that I don't already do - but I love the enthusiastic way in which the author shares it. Lorilee Craker hasn't just found ways to save money – her joy and excitement at the fun of it is all throughout the book. Originally, I chose this book because of my love for living the simple lifestyle. But, in these hard economic times, who couldn't use a little extra scratch at the end of the month? You're not going to find any truly mind boggling ideas or get rich quick schemes in the pages of this book, but you

Jewelry Hanger

Image
I have a jewelry box that sits on top my dresser. It really isn't too bad looking......until you open the lid!  The part I've always disliked about a jewelry box was that the necklace's are always tangled and I can never find a matching pair of earrings!  I've been brain storming for a while about this, so finally decided to do something about it!  I found a plastic coated wire hanger, an old picture frame (minus the glass and backing) black spray paint and a piece of window screen. I painted the old picture frame black and let dry, then hot glued the screen to the back of it. I used wire cutters to cut the clothes hanger and bent it with a pair of pliers, so that the wire would bend around the back of the frame and hot glued them into place. (the large one at the bottom for the necklaces and the small at the top for anklets and bracelets)  I also cut the hook from the hanger to use to hang my
