Business Card Holder Tutorial

Image
How many times do you put business cards on bulletin boards only to find them gone in a few days?? I found the solution..... Make your own Business Card Holder!! I think these are not only cute, but would also help your business......I found a great (very detailed) tutorial on Stitched Boutique .   I decided to make some for me! the first one that I made, I followed her steps, but with three kids running around, I though it was kinda time consuming, so I decided to simplify and it went much quicker....plus I liked the outcome better! So here it is simplified: Fist I printed out my tops onto card stock: Then I made one cut down the middle. (You should now have two pieces of paper.) Next, fold the bottom of the paper in half and draw a line 3/4" from the fold at the bottom. Lay a business card on the line (centered) then draw up the sides. -see picture below Cut out the rectangle: Fold the bottom up like it was before you cut it. Add tape to each of t

Car Seats

Everyone With A Child Should Read This..... Car Seat Safety: The Benefits of Extended Rear Facing (ERF)  What is Extended Rear Facing? Extended rear-facing simply means to keep a child in the rear-facing position after the child reaches 1 year and 20 lbs. 20 lbs is the minimum requirement for turning a child to the forward-facing position (by Ontario law). While you can choose to forward-face at the current minimum of 20 lbs, it is highly recommended that you keep your child rear-facing until the upper limits of the seat are reached. Your child will reach these upper limits when one of the following conditions occurs: 1. The child reaches the rear-facing weight limit 2. The top of the child's head is within one inch of the top of the shell of the car seat. Push down on the padding and measure with the plastic shell. Why should I keep my child Rear Facing? It is the safest way for anyone to ride. Need proof? *From 1992 through June of 1997, only 9 properly restraine

Is Your Home Safe? GET CLEAN -  Safe for you, your home, and your planet.™ The real dirt on clean. You know that good, healthy feeling you get when you’ve just cleaned house? Sorry to spoil it, but you may have just madeyour home dirtier. Think of it this way. You wouldn’t let your kids play with toxic chemicals, so why would you let the baby crawl over a floor that’s just been wiped with them? That’s much more dangerous than the orange juice that was just there. How dangerous? Just take a look at these statistics. • Over 90% of poison exposures happen at home. • Common chlorine bleach is the #1 household chemical involved in poisoning. • Organic pollutants, found in many common cleaners and even air fresheners, are found at levels 2 to 5 times higher inside your home than out. • A person who spends 15 minutes cleaning scale off shower walls could inhale three times the “acute one-hour exposure limit” for glycol ether-containing products set by the California Office of Envir

A Book Angel

Image
Last winter, almost a year ago my sister came over to do crafts with my daughter and I one evening. We made Book Angel's! My book angel My daughters book angel It was simple enough that my daughter could do everything (except for help with the hot glue gun), but was also lots of fun! Items needed: A book (I used an old song book, my daughter used a reading book with pictures), a glue gun and glue, fake craft hair, wooden balls and scraps of lace and ribbon. You take the book and fold the first six or so pages up.....they are the 'wings'. Do the same thing with the last six or so (the same amount) of pages. Then go through  the rest of the book folding the pages down. (children may need some help to try to fold the pages all the same) folding pages Set the book upright, glue on a wooden ball for the head, then glue on hair, lace, ribbons and bows, etc. (my daughter added a face with a marker to hers...) cutting the hair and there

Hair Without Tangles Ever since my daughter has had hair long enough to comb, she has had tangles. I am talking about big tangles that would take me 20-30 min. or more to comb out, and with her crying in pain the whole time! In the past, I've tried ever kind of product out there on the market to get rid of tangles.....NOTHING worked! Then, I tried Shaklee Revitalizing Shampoo and Replenishing Conditioner. To my amazement it WORKED! My daughter has long fine hair, and she acts like a tomboy most days, but since she washes and conditions her hair with Shaklee, I haven't had to spend time combing out tangles and she doesn't dread getting her hair combed anymore!  It worked so well for her, that my husband and I use it too. I have thick hair, and it leaves my hair so soft and silky! I like the clean smell of it and best of all, It is all natural.  You can check out Shaklee Hair Care Products here . WHAT’S IN ProSanté? A Bible Bag

Image
Our daughter is required to take notes for Sunday morning church..... (now, before you think this is too much for a little kid, let me tell you that her notes can be pictures, a saying or a Bible verse -just something to show that she's paying attention to the preacher.) In the past, she has carried a purse, but I decided to make her a Bible bag. The bag is big enough to hold her bible, a note book, kleenex, pencil and chapstick. I bought a pre-made bag at Hobby Lobby, then used craft scraps to decorate it. And since my daughter has low self-esteam, I choose the saying "You are beautiful - just the way you are"! I think it is a hit, as she is thrilled and it didn't cost me more than $2.00! -maybe I'll make these to sell...you think anyone would buy them? Thanks Tip Junkie  for the link-up!

Something every little Boy should have!

Image
I have a all-man type of boy! When QW was one, I wanted to buy him a mat that he could drive his matchbox cars on. However, the ones you buy are either too small, or too costly and I didn't think they looked very fun, so I made him a car mat! It was fun and easy to make, and to this day (He will be 4yrs. next mo.) It is his favorite toy! He plays on the car mat everyday. His sister, dad and even mom sometimes plays on it too!  I am a firm believer that little boys need to play with toys that help them use their imagination in a good way. before the roads were finished The finished car mat I also made one for my little nephew this year for Christmas! I made his different, with more roads and a couple of fields. I also personalized his, so it has their bank, grocery store, his daddy's work, both of his Gmpa's places and favorite restaurants on it! My kids playing on it, while I was still making it. The finished product I keep all his matchbox c

"Faith is the Victory"

Why is it that in today's world, Christian's struggle with having victory in their lives? It is because they do not have Faith! We rely on ourselves, money, family and things instead of relying on God! Of course, most 'Christian's' claim that they have Faith, but are we really willing to put our faith in God for everything including our job, home, family, income, and time? If we truely put our faith in God we will not need  anything .....God will supply all our needs. Only then can we have a Victorious life!

Kids and TV

Image
I must admit, sometimes my parenting skills leave much to be desired.....however, this last week, I have stuck with my new rule of the kids only getting to watch 1hr. of TV or 1 movie a day. The first day they thought it was just awful, but by yesterday, QW didn't even ask to watch any! I am loving having a "quite" house (without the TV noise)! This got me to thinking of how often I would let the kids watch TV/movies. Even though I have never liked it much (and even threatened to get rid of the TV altogether), I would let them watch it just because i didn't want to deal with them. Then before you knew it, a lot of time the TV was on and the kids were not even watching it.... it was just noise.  With the TV off the last week, I have enjoyed quiet, it gives me a sense of calm. The kids are also playing together more and using their imaginations. Now, the next things on my list to work on are snacking between meals and keeping a routine/schedule! .....lik
